As before, we removed the friction compound from the pads using sandpaper. We checked each compound with a magnet for iron. Some had a large amount of shavings, while others had no ferrous metals at all. We also checked the iron content of the friction compound for each pad with a magnet. On some pads, the magnet fits securely, on others it slips, and on others, it doesn't hold at all. We heated the brake mixture to 540°C. We examined and analyzed the brake mixture before and after exposure to this temperature. We entered the data into a table and drew conclusions. Some pads can withstand high temperatures without losing the quality of their friction compound, but these pads, due to their "hard" composition, will cause greater wear on the brake disc. It's possible that they will only begin to operate effectively after warming up, as with ceramic pads. Other pads do not contain iron particles in the friction compound, ensuring minimal wear on the brake disc, but the friction compound of these pads is susceptible to destruction when exposed to high temperatures. During urban driving, the temperature of brake pads rarely rises above 200°C. Therefore, pads with a soft compound without iron in the friction compound are suitable for city driving. Drivers living in mountainous areas, as well as those who enjoy active driving, should consider brake pads that can withstand high temperatures while maintaining braking performance and preventing wear.
