The road was swept away by the current, completely blocking the access road leading into the inner village. Behind me, a utility pole has collapsed, looking precarious. Several excavators have been deployed to carry out emergency restoration work. This is a village densely packed with temporary housing for residents who lost their homes due to wildfires last year. Due to torrential rain that fell overnight, a nearby stream overflowed, sweeping away the temporary houses and turning the area into a scene of chaos. As record-breaking torrential rain poured down on northern Gyeongbuk, Andong City and Uiseong County issued emergency evacuation orders to nearby residents early this morning. Following the issuance of a flood warning, Andong City urgently evacuated about 60 residents living near the stream, while Uiseong County evacuated around 150 people, including residents and campers, to nearby village halls and cultural centers. Residents say they still feel dizzy when they think about the heavy downpour last night. One resident recounted that they tried to go outside out of concern that the pouring rain might cause a landslide, but were panicked when the front door wouldn't open. He described the tense situation at the time, stating that the water was submerged up to his waist and that he had to evacuate through a window. He added that the pavilion in front of the village had completely collapsed, and the road had been swept away by the torrent, leaving a large crater. [Anchor] The situation seems serious. Nearby, a utility pole has fallen, and severed power lines are being repaired. In areas where roads have been washed away, traffic lanes have been completely closed off to fill in the collapsed soil. Additionally, volunteers have come out to help at temporary housing damaged by the flooding, assisting with tasks such as clearing out household items from the interiors that have turned into mud.
