The most striking part of the Moscow exhibition "Electrotrans" were the trolleybuses. This, for example, is the Admiral model 6281. The company "Transport Systems" produced more than 350 of these vehicles - incidentally, at the former Trolza plant in Engels, Saratov region. And this is a restyled version with many changes. Admiral is the successor to the Megapolis model from the defunct Trolza, but it is updated regularly. This is what last year's modernization looked like, with controversial places along the side in the "gallery". And now the interior has been reconfigured and illuminated differently. The driver got a new panel, a steering wheel with buttons and modern assistants such as tire pressure monitoring, rain and light sensors and a 360-degree camera. Denis Frolov: “We specifically created a new model for large cities, so that they would pay attention to us. Specifically, to the trolleybus as a mode of transport. Because there was a certain stereotype about the trolleybus as unattractive, as an ineffective mode of transport. And here is our model, it is designed to simply break this stereotype at its root... We also conducted additional calculations based on the public procurement website in accordance with Order No. 351 of the Ministry of Transport for calculating the initial (maximum) contract price for gross contracts. And our trolleybus, although it is not cheap (we do not produce cheap equipment), turns out to be cheaper over a 15-year life cycle compared not only to electric buses, but also to diesel and gas buses. Even taking into account the construction of overhead contact systems for our vehicles. That is, it all pays off.” The modular traction battery now holds a minimum of 61 kilowatt-hours instead of 50. NMC-type cells are, of course, imported, but they are assembled and the software is written in Russia: the batteries are supplied by the Saratov PC Power Systems or the St. Petersburg firm SAE (Autonomous Energy Systems). Denis Frolov: “When we did dynamic testing, we realized that the faster the trolleybus accelerates, the better it saves. That's why we made our vehicle very dynamic: it travels quickly under the overhead contact network, and it travels quickly when running autonomously. That is, even in the worst road conditions—snow, low operating speed—we can guarantee a calculated 20-kilometer range. During summer testing of this particular trolleybus in Saratov, we covered 44 kilometers without air conditioning and 31 kilometers with a load and the air conditioning system on. The autonomous trolleybus charges its battery en route, traveling under the overhead contact network, and doesn't sit idle at the terminals. The price of one vehicle is around 30 million rubles, but these figures vary greatly depending on the configuration and warranty terms. For comparison, the electric buses Moscow is currently purchasing cost over 60 million rubles.
