Best known for her acclaimed performance in Ken Russell's ‘Isadora’ (1966), as well as other film appearances in ‘Harold and Maude’ (1971); ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ (1971); ‘Nicholas and Alexandra’ (1971); ‘Candleshoe’ (1977); and ‘Britannia Hospital’ (1982). Vivian Pickles has also appeared in numerous stage and television productions, most notably as Mrs. Bennet in all six episodes of the 1967 TV series ‘Pride and Prejudice’, alongside Michael Gough, Polly James, Celia Bannerman and Lewis Fiander. In this interview, Vivian Pickles discusses her early years as a child actress, training at the famous Aida Foster stage school, working during the pioneering days of British television at Alexandra Palace, and her experiences performing on stage and screen throughout the twentieth century.
