Corno de Bico | Paredes de Coura

The Corno de Bico Protected Landscape is a protected area with high ecological value that is inserted in the municipality of Paredes de Coura In its extensive and well preserved forest cover, the oak trees stand out, and in the fauna component, species such as the wolf and the water mole can be observed, with protection status, the otter, the webbed newt, the gymnast, the roe deer and the boar. The region is essentially mountainous, with rounded contours, with Corno de Bico, 883 m high, the highest elevation in the northern region. At the top of these slopes, it is possible to see '' chaos of blocks '', which are agglomerates of granite blocks, the dominant rock of the region, giving a chaotic aspect to the landscape. In this region are included the headwaters of three of the main Minho water courses: Coura, Labruja and Vez.
