No other mountain in the world has claimed as many lives: An average of six people die on the Matterhorn each year. Last year, this included a mountain guide and his client when a fixed rope broke through the rock. Has mountaineering become more dangerous in recent years? Is the mountain crumbling due to the dwindling permafrost? Are alpinists less well prepared than before? Or is there simply too much going on at the most famous mountain in the Swiss Alps? On a sunny day in July, it's not uncommon to see a hundred people on the summit of the Matterhorn. Reporter Matthias Lüscher climbs the Matterhorn with Zermatt mountain guide Anjan Truffer, looking up and behind the facade of this world-famous photo subject. Anjan Truffer has been to the summit over two hundred times and, as head of the Zermatt Mountain Rescue Service, has conducted countless rescues on the mountain. He knows the "Horu" like no other.
