ZTE Open - Les débuts de Firefox OS ! (v 1.0)

Today we're going to take a look at one of the very first smartphones running Firefox OS! The ZTE Open is indeed geared primarily towards developers to improve the system and create new applications, rather than everyday users. Since Firefox OS is still relatively new, it won't be suitable for everyone just yet. Nevertheless, I can tell you that this experience with the OS leads me to believe it will be ready very soon (the upcoming release of version 1.3 will surely be the first step towards maturity), and that it's a very welcome replacement for Android on entry-level phones, which can hardly imagine such smooth and fast internet browsing without it. PS: In the comments, I've been told that 4.x ROMs run better than 2.x on some older phones, and that therefore they find it unjustified to create a new OS like Firefox OS. It's worth noting that even an old Galaxy S isn't a good example to argue that Android 4.3 runs better than 2.2 on low-end phones. Indeed, a low-end phone now very often has a more powerful CPU than the Galaxy S (yes, really!), but often only 256 MB of RAM. However, what prevents Android 4.x from running well on low-end phones isn't CPU power, but RAM, and the Galaxy S has 512 MB, which is more than enough for Android 4.x. It's no surprise that the Galaxy S performs better on 4.3 than on 2.2/2.3, because Android 4.x, provided it has enough RAM, is significantly smoother than 2.x. This is simply due to its improved screen management, which is now GPU-accelerated, freeing up the CPU for other tasks. Firefox OS, on the other hand, maintains the lightweight nature of Android 2.x while adding the advantages of 4.x. Furthermore, if you're an Android enthusiast, you should be pleased with this news, because at best it will push Google to improve RAM efficiency in its entry-level devices, and at worst it will force manufacturers to stop selling Android devices so slow that they damage the OS's reputation.
