Hey everyone! First things first. Here's Goethe's poem: http://www.jpspelz.com/el-aprendiz-de... One of the most interesting things about magic is its history. Let's keep it simple. Magic, at the end of the day, is deception, with the sole purpose of entertaining. Some say that magicians are the most honest people in the world because they say they're going to deceive you... and they do. But as my mom says, "Nothing is inherently good or bad; it depends on how you use it." And the same goes for secrets. You can use secrets to swindle or to entertain. That's one of the main differences between a magician and a con artist, and it's also the main battle this art has faced throughout history. I made this video because I wanted to summarize the most important events in the history of magic in 10 minutes (and 5 points). Although it feels like it was a bit like turning a book into a movie. The book is packed with juicy details, stories, anecdotes, creations, characters, gossip, and banter, and the movie, while good, never comes close to the wonder of the book. I'd love to tell you more about some of the craziest stories in the world of magic. Like magicians who have worked for the FBI, others who have prevented and won wars, and still others who invented advertising methods used in every industry today.
