Unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on a garbage truck at the intersection of 21st Street and the Miraflores neighborhood in Zone 11 of Guatemala City. The workers escaped injury by hiding inside the vehicle, according to a report by journalist Alfredo Mendoza. Officer Víctor Gómez, spokesperson for the Volunteer Fire Department, confirmed that the truck's crew suffered nervous breakdowns and were treated at the scene without requiring hospitalization. Authorities counted more than 10 bullet holes in the side of the vehicle and in the garbage container. Agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) secured the scene and awaited the arrival of the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) to begin the corresponding investigation. The truck driver stated that this was not the first time they had been attacked this year.
