Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju has made serious allegations regarding the alleged land grab behind the construction of the YSRCP district party office in Vizianagaram during the tenure of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a private property belonging to the Pusapati estate, located in Maharajupeta Survey No. 569, was unlawfully converted into government land through manipulation of official records. He alleged that revenue officials, under political pressure, altered century-old land records and subsequently allotted one acre of the disputed land to the YSRCP for the construction of its party office. The land, part of a 4.76-acre property owned by the Pusapati family, was reportedly leased to the YSRCP for 33 years at a nominal rent of just ₹1,000 per year through Government Order (GO) No. 350. Ashok Gajapathi Raju claimed that the land records were tampered with on February 9, 2022, and that the allotment was made without notifying the rightful owners or conducting a proper legal inquiry. Presenting historical records and documentary evidence to the District Collector, he accused former officials and YSRCP leaders of abusing their authority and violating provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Survey and Boundaries Act. He further alleged that only the District Collector has the authority to convert private land into government land, but in this case, the changes were made at the MRO level itself. Ashok Gajapathi Raju also named former MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy and other YSRCP leaders, alleging their involvement in the entire process. He stated that the property has been classified as private land since the British era and remained under the ownership of the Pusapati family even after the abolition of the Zamindari system. Meanwhile, Vizianagaram Municipal officials have recently issued notices to the YSRCP district office, alleging violations of fire safety regulations during the construction process. Notices were reportedly served to YSRCP district president Majji Srinivasa Rao, directing immediate compliance with safety norms.
