Replace your iPhone 5 battery in just above 2 minutes - ScandiTech Shop ScandiTech iP5 Battery: https://scandi.tech/collections/iphone-5 NOTE: The sole purpose of this video is to show how quickly and easily a professional can replace the battery in an iPhone 5. This video is NOT meant to be instructional. We have a longer video that explains the replacement process in detail here: • Video ********* Scandi Tech technician replaces an old and used battery in an iPhone 5 to a brand new battery sold by ScandiTech. Walk through: 1. Remove the two bottom pentalobe/5-star screws next to the charging port. 2. Separate the front assembly from the back assembly. We chose to do this by sticking a metal tweezer (comes with our kit) between the plastic frame and the metal back assembly. This is the quickest and most efficient way BUT if done incorrectly it can leave a mark on the back assembly and it can damage the headphone connector. Please refer to our website for a detailed explanation of this technique. Once a tiny gap is exposed between the front and back assembly, a spudger is used to finish the separate process. 3. The front assembly is lifted and held by hand at a 90 degree angle and the cables/flexes from the front assembly to the logic board are not disconnected. If done incorrectly, or if the front assembly is dropped, the cables tear resulting in loss of LCD, touch and front camera functions. 4. The two screws holding down the metal battery connector cover are removed. After that the metal cover is removed as well and the battery connector is disconnected from its connector on the logic board. 5. Use the top (broad) side of the metal tweezers to lever the battery carefully upwards from the back assembly - from the opposite (left) side of the logic board. Do not lever the battery upwards against the logic board as the logic board and/or parts on the logic board can easily be damaged. The battery is held, in most cases very strongly, by double sided adhesive. As we have performed countless battery replacements we know just how much force to use. For first time users it's a good idea to lever the battery upwards from more than one position or use a heat gun or hairdryer to slightly heat up the back assembly from the backside in order to easier separate the battery from the adhesive. 6. Once the battery is removed, put the new iPhone 5 battery in place and press it down firmly so it sticks to the adhesive. Connect the battery connector to its connector on the logic board. 7. Screw the metal cover fastened and slowly move the front assembly towards the back assembly. Press them together by sliding your finger from top to bottom. 8. Screw the bottom screws fastened. Boot up your phone. If it keeps saying "Searching..." in the top left corner you'll need to connect it to a wifi network and let the phone automatically set the time and date as the date is rolled back to 01.00 the 1st of january 1970. Once the date is set, reboot your phone and it is ready to be used! If the phone doesn't boot up right after the battery replacement, charge it for 10-15 minutes. If the battery is completely discharged, it can take a while before anything is shown on the screen. ********* We made this video to show everyone that it doesn't take an Apple-genius or a highly trained technician to replace an iPhone 5 battery - everyone can do it! A battery in an iPhone 5, or any smartphone for that matter, works like any other battery - it wears out with time. After about 300 cycles, i.e. 300 full charges and discharges, a significant drop in performance is noticeable. The older and more used the battery gets, the more obvious is the performance drop. In the end the phone can end up shutting down when the battery percentage drops below 10-20%. In this case a fresh, new battery brings the phone back to life. In some cases the battery can swell. This results in the glass/digitizer lifting from its frame. If the battery is very swollen, it's not uncommon that a gap is apparent between the glass and the metal back assembly. This problem can also be fixed by replacing the battery.
