Los libros son la empresa universal que nos hace humanos

What is the purpose of reading books? Does reading have any meaning beyond entertainment? There's an idea we carry within us without question: that reading books makes us better people. But Hannah Arendt—the philosopher who coined the concept of the banality of evil—made it clear after covering the Eichmann trial: culture doesn't inoculate you against anything. The Nazis read Goethe and Hölderlin. And yet. In this video, I talk about why deep and critical reading don't make you a better person. They make you responsible. They make you curious. And that, depending on who you ask, is dangerous. The importance of reading isn't in easy comfort—it's in the memory that outlives the writer. Hervé Guibert, Charlotte Delbo, Alison Bechdel: they all understood that the book is the only thing that remains when people fail. Because neither friends, nor family, nor even God come out unscathed when you put them to the test. The book, on the other hand, has endured bonfires, censorship, and bombings for 2,500 years. And it's still here. If you're trying to cultivate a reading habit, improve your reading comprehension, or simply understand the true benefits of reading—beyond self-help—this video is for you. 📚 CHAPTERS: 00:00 — Welcome: Can reading and writing save your life? 06:40 — The invisible chain of the book: writer, reader, transmission 09:50 — Hannah Arendt, Eichmann, and the banality of evil 11:20 — “Reading drives you crazy”: why books have always been the enemy 17:00 — Contradictory heroes: Ulysses lies, Bernarda Alba is not Satan 19:30 — Conclusion: comfort and intellectual respect. 🖋️ Online writing workshops: https://raulquirosmolina.es/talleres-... 📩 Free novel writing guide: https://raulquirosmolina.es/ #ReadingBooks #CriticalReading #DeepReading #HannahArendt #BanalityOfEvil #ImportanceOfReading #BenefitsOfReading #CreativeWriting #Philosophy
