On September 14, 2013, the Akron Zips nearly pulled off a colossal upset in the Big House when they lost to #12 Michigan 28-24. The Zips got all the way inside the Michigan 5 yard line with 25 seconds remaining but could not score and Michigan was able to survive. Akron was aided by a poor performance from Michigan QB Devin Gardner who turned the ball over 4 times.
