Viswanathan Anand (aka Vishy) is an Indian chess grandmaster from Chennai who is known for his rapid playing speed since childhood. He won his first grandmaster from India in 1988 and he is the holder of the World Chess Championship for five times. He was in the No.1 position for a period of 21 months and it is the sixth-longest period on record. He is the first recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1991–92 and received the Padma Vibhushan as the first sportsperson in 2007.
