The 44th G Cup All Japan Gamakatsu Iso (Chinu) Championship, co-sponsored by Gamakatsu Corporation and GAMAKATSU PTE LTD, was held in Owase, Mie Prefecture from April 5th (Sun) to 7th (Tue), 2026. A total of 31 participants, including top finishers from qualifying rounds held throughout Japan, as well as seeded and recommended players, competed in fierce battles. Owase, the venue for this tournament, was the first location to host the G Cup national tournament and is known as a sacred place for large black sea bream. Normally, this would be the peak season, a time when consistent catches can be expected. However, just before the event, bad weather caused swells, and coupled with a sudden drop in water temperature, resulted in tough conditions with reluctant fish to bite.
