UN SERVICIO COMO EL DE CRISTO | Lección 3 | Ptr. Javier Zorrilla | Miércoles 15 de julio 2026
Greetings, dear friends and brothers and sisters who are tuning in through these channels. This is your friend and pastor, Javier Zorrilla. This week we will study the topic: Unity in Christ. Today's study is titled: Service Like Christ's. Our text to study and memorize this week says: “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought” (1 Corinthians 1:10). Read 1 Corinthians 4:1-2. What does this passage teach about our understanding of human leadership? This passage teaches us to have a balanced and humble perspective on human leadership, based on three key points: • Servants, not celebrities: We should see leaders simply as "servants of Christ." This prevents us from idolizing them or putting them on a pedestal; their role is to serve, not to be served. • Stewards, not owners: They are custodians (stewards) of God's truths. They do not own the message or the church, but are responsible for caring for what belongs to God. • Evaluated by faithfulness, not success: The standard for evaluating a leader is not their charisma, popularity, or eloquence, but their faithfulness to God. Read Philippians 2:5-8. How does this text help us understand the expression "the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16)? Philippians 2:5-8 defines in a practical and concrete way what it truly means to have "the mind of Christ." It teaches us that having His mind is not about accumulating theological knowledge, but about adopting His very mindset and attitude toward life: • Voluntary humility: This means not clinging to our own rights, privileges, or position, but being willing to relinquish them out of love for others, just as Jesus did when He emptied Himself of His glory. • Servant attitude: This is putting the needs of others above our own, actively seeking the well-being of others instead of personal recognition. • Radical obedience: This involves submitting our will to God's, assuming whatever cost and sacrifice is necessary. In short, having the mind of Christ is thinking downward (in service and voluntary humility) and not upward (in pride or self-exaltation). Prayerfully meditate on the message of Philippians 2:5-8. How can we understand what this tells us about God's self-sacrificing love for us? How can we learn to die to ourselves so that we can manifest this love in our own lives? We understand God's love by seeing the depth of his descent. Jesus did not love us from the comfort of his throne; the passage shows us that he emptied himself, descending from the glory of heaven to the condition of a servant, and finally to the most humiliating death (the cross). His love is not a passive feeling, but a voluntary action that prioritizes our redemption at the cost of his own rights and comfort. How can we learn to die to ourselves? To manifest this love in our surroundings (family, work, community), we must practice daily renunciation in three areas: • Letting go of the desire to always be right: Dying to the pride of wanting to win every argument or impose our opinion, seeking peace and mutual understanding. • Serving without expecting applause: Silently performing daily and necessary tasks for others, imitating Jesus' servantly attitude without seeking recognition. • Giving up our rights for the common good: Being willing to sacrifice our time, comfort, or personal preferences when this brings well-being or reconciliation to those around us. Dear friends, thank you for tuning in today. We have finished this lesson. May God's grace and power be with you today and always. Until next time! Don't forget to share and subscribe to our channel. God bless you.
