Engaging in speaking activities is vital to keep students motivated during English language-speaking classes. However, designing the right speaking activity for a topic is not always an easy task. Teachers need to be aware of the students’ skills and personalities, as well as the type of language and grammar they will be presenting. It’s good to be able to run through or think through a list of teaching possibilities before preparing a class. Speaking Activities - Basic Level The 5 ESL speaking activities in this video have the simple aim of encouraging students to speak openly and freely, with minimal support, in order to achieve their communicative goals. The emphasis is on spontaneous, creative spoken language use rather than on absolute accuracy, These activities have helped make seemingly difficult teaching challenges a lot of fun: 1. Bad Holidays 2. First Impressions 3. Disappearing text 4. Agree or Disagree? 5. Short Talks I hope you enjoy these activities and find them useful in your teaching.
