The Rise of Opportunity Crossing

Opportunity Crossing tells the story of a community that chose not simply to rebuild, but to reimagine what was possible. In the wake of the 2020 civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd, a once-devastated block on Minneapolis' Lake Street became the site of an ambitious vision. What emerged is more than one of the city's largest affordable housing developments. Opportunity Crossing combines deeply affordable homes, locally owned commercial condos, sustainable design, public art and community-centered planning into an industry-leading model for equitable development. Through the voices of residents, community leaders, artists, partners and developers, the film explores how collaboration, resilience and shared purpose transformed loss into deepened and lasting opportunity.
