Circuit Nivelles-Baulers in 1998 About the video A slide show of my visit to the abandoned race track of Nivelles-Baulers in Belgium. It was my second visit to the track. The first time was in april 1998 when I drove the track and made some random pictures. Back home I regretted that I didn't photograph a complete lap. So on the way back from the 24 Hours of le Mans, in june 1998, I went back to the Nivelles-Baulers Circuit to make this series of pictures. As you can see in the video they already started the preparation works for the reconstruction from circuit to business park. So I was just in time to see the track as it used to be. Later I made some real footage of the current state of the circuit (see link to playlist below). About the track This lost circuit hosted the Belgian Grand Prix in 1972 and 1974. Both F1 races were won by Emerson Fittipaldi. The track closed in 1981 afer a bankruptcy. Untill 1998 the ground lay fallow and was often used for illegal racing. In 1998 they started the reconstruction from race track to business park. Today most of the track is gone. Where once Formula One cars drove are now companies. But there is still a part of the abandoned race track left. However, it will be a question of time before this part will be also converted into a business park. In 2014 there was a revival on a part of the old track which is now public road. See also my other videos of Nivelles-Baulers for the current state of the track and the revival.
