4/5 FS Thunderbolt 1003A Fire Siren Test BTS, Alternate Wail, Growl, & Manual Hi-Lo, St. Paul, NE

Enjoy this behind the scenes footage of not only an alternate wail test, but also the first ever test of this siren in STEADY HI-LO! The test button is wired like it's supposed to be which is why the siren growled in hi-lo so we didn't technically need to open the panels, but I decided that would be more fun and it would allow us to film it going off behind the scenes in hi-lo. It's not everyday that you get permission to set off a very special siren, that's for sure! This should go without saying, but since I am aware of this siren being tampered with previously, DO NOT OPEN SIREN PANELS OR ADJUST SETTINGS WITHOUT PERMISSION! I was told by jcb19 at SirenCon 2023 that someone managed to sneak in and mess with the chopper level and time delay settings since the first time I heard this siren in person. As cool as it may seem to be able to alter a siren, let me tell you, it's not. It is called UNAUTHORIZED TAMPERING with a LIFE SAFETY SYSTEM and can lead to criminal charges. On the other hand, setting off a siren outside of test time when there's no emergency can constitute creating a false emergency which is a FELONY CRIME! This includes sirens that you own personally. It is no different than calling 911 with no emergency/prank calling them. We had permission from both the fire department and county dispatch to set off the siren after its usual test and knew what we were doing. We did not adjust the chopper level (frankly I love how Thunderbolts sound on level 7) or do anything other than setting it off manually. Siren Information: Siren: FS Thunderbolt 1003A Signals: Alternate wail, growl, & alternate steady (hi-lo) Usage: Primarily a fire siren, but also doubles as a tornado siren since the county can activate it. Motors: Chopper: 2HP single phase; blower: 7.5HP 3 phase Chopper: 4/5 port Location: St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department in St. Paul, NE. County: Howard Tested: Every 1st of the month at 1:00pm (alert), every 15th of the month at 1:00pm (alternate wail). Testing time on 07/15/2024: 1:01pm (alternate wail), 1:05pm (hi-lo) Other notes: St. Paul has this 1003, 2 RSH-10As, and 1 2001-SRN and they're all relatively close together so the town is well covered.
