A tabletop card game with dice where you pick what you draw sounds really strange, but in this Shelfside review of Ashes: Reborn, we're going over the unique rules and mechanisms that make this work! No more mana screwing rng like in Magic the Gathering, instead your ten dice are your mana and your hand is just whatever five cards you want to draw from your deck! Traditional collectible and trading card game players will find a lot familiar here in rules, mechanics, and abilities. Creatures have stats, some cards are played like instants on reaction, some draw other cards, there's attacking and blocking, etc. Unlike other TCG/CCG's, there's not a back and forth turn structure, but instead a round structure kinda like board games, where you have to be careful how you spend resources, as you don't refresh mana and redraw every turn.
