Nellie Melba (soprano) - L'amour est pur ('Elaine' - Bemberg) (1906)

Here is another early Melba recording, and one that qualifies as a creator record, because Melba sang the title role in Herman Bemberg's opera 'Elaine' when it premiered at Covent Garden in 1892. In this recording, from 7 July 1906, Melba is accompanied by a ladies' chorus and the composer at the piano. The record had its first issue on the IRCC label. This transfer is made from a Gramophone Company advance pressing.
