“In C” Terry Riley phrases 1 to 13 #loopypro #terryriley #inc #aerophone

Here’s a taste of Terry Riley’s “In C” performed on my Roland Aerophone AE20 with Loopy Pro and SWAM instruments. Prior to our March 2026 performance of In C in Norfolk, VA, I recorded the pulse and the 53 phrases into Loopy Pro and built my template to perform along with. I used primarily SWAM software instruments and performed-recorded these loops myself. I used a variety of instrumental sounds for variety, tonality, octave placement, etc to keep it interesting for our small ensemble to perform over. Here I perform the first 13 phrases, keeping only 3 or 4 phrases playing at a time, keeping with Terry Riley´s guidance, and just featuring each for a minute or so to keep the performance short. Loop 1 software piano, 2 is SWAM cello, 3 is SWAM sax, 4 is SWAM trumpet, 5 is SWAM violin, 6 SWAM sax, 7 piano, 8 SWAM trumpet, 9 SWAM cello, 10 piano, 11 SWAM trumpet, 12 SWAM violin, 13 SWAM Sax For continuity, I am playing live over these with SWAM flute in this recording. Played with my Roland Aerophone AE20 as a MIDI controller. Recorded with a custom pulse at 100 bpm. Íll be recording in groups of 15 or so phrases in the coming weeks and posting them here and in an IN C playlist.
