Larrimah and the old N.A.R. Railway

It is the 28th of August 2007 which is a travel day for our group of railfans as we continue our trip north to Darwin. Departing Alice Springs shortly after watching a southbound train we hit the road and head north to the old abandoned narrow gauge Northern Australia Railway (N.A.R) station at Larrimah to soak up the history of this once busy interchange. During world war two Larrimah would see up to 146 trains a week. Afterwards our group makes it way to Katherine to take in some standard gauge action at the new station before heading to Adelaide River. In the video we mention how NFB locomotives were trucked disassembled to Larrimah during World War II. NFB was the classification for South Australian Railway Yx class locomotives that were used by the NAR.
