Forgotten Railway Stores Ep. 4 - New Jersey's Lost Interurban Railroad

Welcome back to the Forgotten Railway Stories! This series will cover the stories of forgotten train stations, rolling stock, locomotives, and derailments that no one knows of! Episode 4 is about a vital 1910s piece of railroad infrastructure that nearly no one knows about in New Jersey called interurban railroads. These big little railroads were basically commuter railroads and trolley lines combined into a smaller size - they were really efficient and fast, and were widely loved among the people of America. New Jersey's most famous one (so to speak) was called the North Jersey Rapid Transit, and it was everyone's favorite way of getting around Northern NJ but it quickly failed after just 20 years of operation due to competition with buses and automobiles.
