This exceptional site is dominated by K2, the world's second-highest peak, with Gasherbrum and Broad Peaks in view. Extending across 63 kilometers (39 miles), the Baltoro Glacier stands as one of the world's longest non-polar glaciers, nestled in the Shigar district of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. While reaching Concordia can be challenging, it remains one of Pakistan's most frequented regions, primarily due to its mountaineering allure, encompassing K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrum peaks. Renowned not only for its stunning landscapes but also as a vital water source, a significant portion of northern Pakistan's populace relies on meltwater from the Karakoram glaciers. The expansive 63-kilometer-long glacier gives rise to the Braldo River, a tributary of the Shigar River, which eventually flows into the Indus River. Several significant glaciers feed into the main Baltoro Glacier, including the Godwin Austen Glacier, originating from K2; the Abruzzi and various Gasherbrum Glaciers, stemming from the Gasherbrum peak cluster; the Vigne Glacier, originating from Chogolisa; and the Yermandendu Glacier, sourced from Masherbrum.
