On-board ZB7252 from London Gatwick to Venice Marco Polo, Italy on Saturday 9th April 2016. PLEASE READ: The first sector from this flying trip around Italy, first starting in Venice before flying down to Catania on the Volotea 717. The night before we found out the Italians were having an air traffic control strike the morning of our flight! Obviously we was concerned but everything went smoothly. Several BA & Easyjet flights were cancelled so felt fortunate to be able to travel! We boarded 20 minutes early and pushed back on schedule (Captain wanted to make sure we didn't miss our ATC slot due to restrictions over Italy). After a damp and cold start up, we departed London Gatwick at 7am sharp. Once airborne we quickly left the United Kingdom, cruising south past Paris & Geneva before descending over the Alps into Venice - where the weather appeared to be similar to the UK! Afraid the views were not on our side during this flight. Thanks Monarch for getting us to Venice on schedule. Such a beautiful city, would recommend a visit to anyone!
