Officials said excavation work for both the 9.4-km main and escape tunnels has been completed, while final lining work is underway with around 500 metres still pending in the main tunnel. Engineers highlighted challenging geological conditions, including loose rock formations and tunnelling beneath villages with low overburden. A 26.15-metre steel girder bridge being built between the two tunnels is also nearing completion and is expected to be ready by August. Pile foundation work has been completed, while reinforcement and concrete work for the pile cap is in progress.
