An Alternative Border Crossing: A Guatemalan River for Migrants Traveling to the US
For many years, the Rio Grande at the Mexico-US border has been a path for thousands of illegal migrants. However, another river much further south is used by migrants who are making their way to the US. This is called the Suchiate River, located on the border between Guatemala and Mexico. If migrants coming from Central and South America do not request asylum, they will be deported by Mexican authorities.
