In that darkness came a realization: being broken isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of rebuilding. For me, the light that pulled me back was my kids. This song is the moment I decided to stand back up. Figments of Light Studio grew from that spark — a mix of music, storytelling, and the belief that even in the hardest chapters, there is light worth holding onto. 💙 GRATITUDE — The Mesa Initiative (Renfrew County, Ontario) Mesa is a community-based program that brings housing, mental health, addictions, and emergency supports together with compassion and dignity. During a period when I was homeless, Mesa provided me with a safe hotel room and the support I needed to begin rebuilding my life. Through their programs — and with the help of many caring people — I eventually found stability, direction, and a place to stand again. In that same hotel, in the room beside mine, lived Vernie — another musician navigating his own chapter of rebuilding. Together, we turned those two small rooms into a makeshift recording studio. With a few rented instruments from Long & McQuade and a shared determination to create something honest, we transformed pain into purpose — and “Not Broken” was born. Their belief in people who are rebuilding helped make this song possible.
