Carnaval 2023 in our village Moerzeke Kastel, Belgium, a fascinating Belgian tradition

Sunday, February 19, the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, was the day of the traditional Carnaval in our village Moerzeke en Kastel. A real tradition because this was already the 53th edition of the Carnaval. 19 groups took part in this parade, a real unbelievable effort of the local people for such a small village counting only 7.000 inhabitants. 17 groups came from the village. No need to say that a real Carnaval spirit lives in our village. The last 2 year there was no parade as a result of the pandemic. Local people really looked forward to the event. As usual the parade was attended not only by the whole village, but also by a lot of visitors from outside.
