What even is Mascot Horror?

We don't really know. Well, we all THINK we know, but it's very likely that your definition of "mascot horror" differs from your friends', and you never even realised... I conducted a survey asking 1,000 people how they define this genre, and the results were kind of bizarre. Over the next month, I created this video essay to explore the survey responses, trace the origin and evolution of the genre’s definition, figure out what might have gone wrong, and, hopefully, reach some kind of conclusion.
