▶️ 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 : Driving a Train (Garratt 462-0406 Steam Locomotive) through the new route to the top of Mount Gordo in GTA 5. 🚂 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 : A Garratt locomotive is a type of articulated steam locomotive invented by British engineer Herbert William Garratt that is articulated into three parts. Its boiler, firebox, and cab are mounted on a centre frame or "bridge". The two other parts, one at each end, have a pivot to support the central frame; they consist of a steam engine unit – with driving wheels, trailing wheels, valve gear, and cylinders, and above it, fuel and/or water storage. Articulation permits locomotives to negotiate curves that might restrict large rigid-framed locomotives. The design also provides more driving wheels per unit of locomotive weight, permitting operation on lightly engineered track. Garratt locomotives produced as much as twice the tractive effort of the largest conventional locomotives of railways that introduced them, reducing the need for multiple locomotives and crews. Six Garratt locomotives of this 4-6-2+2-6-4 wheel arrangement built by Euskalduna in 1931, were used on the 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) gauge Ferrocarril Central de Aragón (FCA) in Spain. They worked the heaviest passenger trains on the steepest gradients from Valencia to Zaragoza. After the FCA was integrated into RENFE in 1941, the locomotives were converted to oil-burners and worked in the Tarragona-Valencia section on the line between Barcelona and Seville, until they were replaced by diesel traction in 1967 and retired. 🛠️ 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱 : Kitsune Trains attempts to bring real life trains to Los Santos!
