ZAPATERÍA VINTAGE. Vintage cobbling.
TOOL CATALOGING: 002 The Iron Trio of Traditional Shoemaking Documentary recording session held on April 1, 2026 (Holy Wednesday). I analyze three fundamental pieces of the cobbler's trade that bear the imprint of 20th-century industry. 1. The Anvil: Analysis of a piece of steel cast in a sand mold. I explain the characteristics of molten metal casting and the reason for maintaining the original casting marks after cleaning, respecting its authentic state. 2. The Shoe-Masking Pliers (Seville, La Macarena): A piece with high sentimental value. A gift from my friend José Manuel Rojas Jiménez, it belonged to his father during the golden age of shoemaking in the La Macarena neighborhood of Seville. I take this opportunity to correct a technical error: thanks to master shoemaker José Antonio Martos, we can clarify that its professional function is to stretch the leather (using tongs) and not simply to hammer in and remove nails. 3. The Squeezing Hammer: A morphological study of this French forged steel hammer. I highlight its domed face and its claw for difficult seams. We delve deeper into the analysis of the stamp: an anagram of a dagger or sword that points us to the Scheux (France) brand.
