The Chaos of Bookfest 2025 | My Experience & Thoughts

I went to Bookfest 2025 with high hopes… and it was not the experience I was expecting. This video is part vlog, part haul, and part honest sit-down chat where I break down exactly what happened at the event — from the chaos of the crowds to the lack of organisation — and why it left me feeling frustrated. We arrived early, but the venue was already packed to the point it felt unsafe. The queues were so long you couldn’t even see what they were for, and there were no signs to help. Even the staff didn’t know what the stalls were for. I spent over 2 hours in one queue, only to be refused the chance to play a game I’d been watching others play moments before. There were a couple of highlights — including an amazing talk on fantasy illustration by The Noble Artist — and I do share the bookish goodies I picked up. But I also share my honest thoughts on how Bookfest could improve in the future to make it more enjoyable and accessible for everyone. This isn’t my usual happy video, but I felt it was important to be honest.
