Things to remember when choosing your 1st apartment in USA
HOW WE CHOSE OUR FIRST APARTMENT IN THE U.S. 🇺🇸 ‼️Warning Long but informative vlog! ‼️ One of the biggest challenges I faced after moving to the U.S. was finding an apartment before my family arrived. After completing my month-long orientation and training in Florida, I flew to Missouri, where I was assigned to work. While adjusting to a new country, a new job, and being away from my family, I had one important mission: find a place that our family of four could call home. The search was overwhelming at first. There were so many options, but I knew I had to look beyond the beautiful photos online. The first thing I considered was 📍LOCATION. Since I work as a nurse, I wanted an apartment close to my workplace, grocery stores, hospitals, parks, and schools. Safety was also a top priority because I wanted my family to feel secure in our new community. Next was 🏫 SCHOOL DISTRICT. Even before my children arrived, I wanted to make sure they would have access to good schools and a family-friendly environment. For our family of four, the 🛏️ NUMBER OF BEDROOMS was another major consideration. We needed enough space to live comfortably while staying within our budget. Speaking of budget 💰, I didn't just look at the monthly rent. I also considered utilities, internet, move-in costs, deposits, and other fees that could affect our monthly expenses. I carefully checked the 🏡 AMENITIES both inside and outside the unit. Inside, I looked for a washer and dryer, enough storage space, functional appliances, and a practical layout. Outside, I considered amenities such as a pool, playground, fitness center, walking areas, and community spaces. 🚗 PARKING was another important factor. I wanted convenient and safe parking, especially since I would be working different shifts as a nurse. Before making any decisions, I spent hours reading ⭐ REVIEWS from current and previous residents. Their experiences helped me understand what daily life in the apartment community was really like. One thing I paid close attention to was 🛠️ MANAGEMENT RESPONSIVENESS. If something breaks or an issue arises, having a management team that responds quickly can make a huge difference. Once we finally found the apartment that checked most of our boxes, the process moved quickly. I submitted the application, provided the required documents, completed the background and income verification process, reviewed the lease agreement carefully, and after approval, sent the security deposit and move-in fees to secure our unit. Looking back, it wasn't just about renting an apartment—it was about finding a place where our family could start a new chapter, build new memories, and continue our American dream together. ❤️ If you're an aspiring nurse, a future immigrant, a USRN waiting for your priority date, or simply planning a move with your family, I hope this video helps you navigate one of the biggest decisions you'll make when starting a new life in the U.S. #NurseEka #USRNJourney #FilipinoNurse #MovingToAmerica #ApartmentHunting #FamilyOf4 #AmericanDream #LifeInMissouri #ImmigrantJourney #FirstApartment
