A debate on the European Union took place in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The motion for a general discussion, submitted by the İYİ Party, regarding the assessment of the current state of Türkiye's EU membership process in light of the European Parliament's 2025 Turkey Report, was brought to the Assembly's agenda. İYİ Party Deputy Group Chairman Turhan Çömez reminded the Assembly that the AK Party had previously set EU membership as a primary goal, but that negotiations had effectively stalled and the government needed to make a clear statement regarding its EU vision. Çömez also recalled past criticisms of the EU process by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, drawing attention to the assessments in the European Parliament's latest report. Visa liberalization and the future of Turkey-EU relations were also important topics of discussion.
