[Correction] The island entrance tax is 100 yen only when you enter the island. It's not charged when you leave, so buying a round-trip ticket won't save you money. Therefore, I recommend buying a ticket for either the JR Ferry, which passes right next to the torii gate starting at 9:10 AM, on your way there, or the JR Matsudai Ferry, whichever has the shorter wait time, on your way back. By the way, the Matsudai Ferry offers tickets that include momiji manju and the ropeway, so it's a good deal for those who want to take the ropeway to Mt.
