It tells the story of inventor Felix Wankel and NSU, from the breakthrough to the disaster surrounding the NSU Ro 80 (apex seals, short-distance problems, high oil and fuel consumption), which financially ruined NSU. Manufacturers worldwide abandoned the technology due to costs, the oil crisis, and emissions regulations – only Mazda persevered for around 50 years (RX-7, Le Mans victory 787B, RX-8), but ultimately had to give up due to fuel consumption, emissions, and durability.
