André Glucksmann "Une rage d'enfant devenu adulte" | Archive INA

Subscribe http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c... Everyone's talking about it: [broadcast of March 25, 2006] André Glucksmann's latest book is entitled "A Child's Rage." Sitting alongside Sandrine Bonnaire, the philosopher recounts his childhood and his Jewish parents, who immigrated to Germany in 1930. In 1937, they fled Germany for France, where little André was born. During the occupation, the Glucksmanns lived in hiding. He was rounded up with his mother and sisters, but saved thanks to his mother's rage. After the war, at the age of 10, he remained in France alone, his mother having returned to Austria. At 13, he joined the Communist Party, which he left in 1956 to become a Maoist. This affiliation remains a source of shame for him, the Chinese revolution being the worst revolution of the 20th century. In his book "The Cook and the Man-Eater", he will compare Nazi and Communist totalitarianism. After a musical interlude taken up by the audience of the show, André GLUCKSMANN justifies his support for the American intervention in Iraq and his disagreement on the Russian intervention in Chechnya. He explains why he approves of the publication of the caricatures of Mohammed (an opinion left to the freedom of each) but against the mockery of the gas chambers (a fact that existed). INTERVIEW RAGE: André GLUCKSMANN answers Thierry ARDISSON's questions on: - his rage to live; to do his hair; about Jacques Chirac; to change the world; to sell fewer books than Bernard Henri Lévy; on young girls "with small Bakelite breasts" (he likes small and large breasts); the homeless in the metro; the place of France in the world (the great absentee); Milosevic who will not be judged; The fact that he must die one day, his failures with women; that he is considered an angry old fool. He randomly draws a card asking him to promote a book other than his own. He chooses "American Vertigo."
