SUCHOGÓRSKI LABIRYNT SKALNY I PUNKT TRIANGULACYJNY. (Trockenberg) Sucha Góra- Bytom #nature

The Sucha Góra Rock Labyrinth is an area of post-mining excavations located in Tarnowskie Góry and Bytom. The geological formations of the area are limestone and ore-bearing dolomite, accompanied by ore deposits. These date back to the Middle Triassic period, approximately 240 million years ago. The oldest traces of ore mining in the Sucha Góra area date back to the 13th century. However, the current landscape of the Sucha Góra Rock Labyrinth is a remnant of an open-pit mine for brown iron and dolomite that operated from 1890 to the early 20th century. Before mining operations began, the area was occupied by arable fields. As a result of mining operations, the terrain changed – it became very diverse, a fact perfectly captured by the name "rock labyrinth." The area is characterized by high landscape values and comprises a system of numerous depressions, fan-shaped valleys, and ravines, between which rise narrow and steep ridges, often with visible dolomite outcrops. At the bottom of one of the depressions, a small reservoir called the Emerald Reservoir has formed, covering an area of approximately 300 m². https://slaskie.travel/nature/1019403...
