Grappling with Blade (Read the Description)

Important Reading ‼️ Before you continue reading, it’s important to understand the purpose of this training. Grappling with the Blade This type of training has nothing to do with sport grappling. Its purpose is to develop a specific mindset that may be required in a life-or-death situation. During these sessions, we introduce a training blade into the grappling environment. One of the two participants carries a concealed training knife, simulating a concealed carry scenario. The exercise is simple: each grappling round lasts six minutes. At any point during the round, the participant carrying the training blade may choose to deploy and use it. For this basic version of the drill, the participant with the knife is not allowed to switch the weapon from one hand to the other and must avoid acting recklessly or “going berserk.” These restrictions make it easier to identify the principles and tactics that are most effective in these situations. The unarmed participant is always allowed to control, disarm, or take possession of the training blade if the opportunity arises, including retrieving it if it falls to the ground. Grappling with a blade requires a completely different mindset. The primary focus shifts to controlling the hands, since weapons are deployed using the hands, while maintaining positions that allow for rapid disengagement when necessary. It also requires an understanding of human anatomy, trauma medicine, and the vital areas of the body that must be protected. Although this training is conducted in a controlled environment, it can be progressively intensified by introducing factors that affect performance and better simulate real-life situations. These may include low-light environments, concrete or other hard surfaces, rain, cold weather, multiple assailants, and other realistic stressors. The goal of this type of training is not to simulate a perfect fight, but to develop awareness, sound decision-making, and effective tactical responses under pressure. www.tribe13.net
