Making a Linen Wrap Dress Without a Pattern (Naturally Dyed Linen)

I was invited to a Kentucky Derby party with two weeks notice. Obviously, I needed to make a dress! In this video I take you through the whole process — from figuring out a design with no pattern, to cutting into two yards of hand dyed indigo linen, to working out a half circle skirt for the first time, to showing up at the party in something I made entirely by hand. There are mistakes along the way, a collar that got remade twice, sleeves I wasn't sure about, and a darker patch on the skirt I debated about for quite some time. This is vibe sewing in its truest form. The fabric was dyed in my molasses indigo vat — you can watch that video here:    • Molasses Indigo Vat — Does It Actually Wor...   01:40 — Figuring out the design 04:29 — The top part 10:11— The skirt part 11:20 — Back in the workshop a few days later 15:19 — Sleeves, fitting, and trying things on constantly 20:32 — Adding pockets and connecting skirt to bodice 25:05 — Fixing mistakes 28:10 — Final day before the party 32:01 — The finished dress Find me here: 🌿 Substack — weekly articles on natural dyeing, making, and slow living: https://linnatplay.substack.com 🪡 Instagram:   / linnatplay
