In this video I’ll show you how to quickly generate a flat 2D drawing (DXF file) from a 3D model in FreeCAD—perfect for preparing files for laser cutters, plasma cutters, or simply printing a template. Even if your 3D model was created in another CAD system, you can easily import STEP files into FreeCAD and extract the contours using the Draft Workbench and the Shape 2D View tool. You’ll learn: How to position your 3D model for correct 2D outline extraction How to use the Shape 2D View command How to export geometry to DXF format This method works whether your model was made in FreeCAD or imported from another system (thanks to STEP file support).
