Wole Soyinka Says Peter Obi Is Unfit To Govern Nigeria + Sanusi Reinstated As Kano Emir| W/OjyOkpe
Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has yet again questioned the leadership potential of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating in a recent interview, that he is unfit to govern Nigeria. Soyinka cited the conduct of his supporters known as the ‘Obidients’ during the 2023 election campaign as a disqualifying factor. The federal high courts ruling in Kano, ordered the state government not to enforce the Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024, which allowed for the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the 14th Emir of Kano. Sanusi was dethroned after falling out with the former governor of Kano State Abdullahi Ganduje, in 2020, Ganduje at the time enacted a 2019 legislation which balkanised the Kano emirate into five jurisdictions. The Kano state house of assembly passed the amended Emiirate council bill on Thursday, which was signed into law by Abba Yusuf, the current governor of Kano. In a suit filed by by Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the judge, asked the defendants to suspend the repealed bill as it affects all offices and institutions of the Emirate Council created pursuant to the provisions of the Kano State Emirate Council Law, 2019. Residents of Okun Ajah community, and telecoms stakeholders, who were at risk of losing property due to the new alignment of the Lagos Calabar costal highway, were in high spirits on Thursday, after the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced that the federal government will do away with the proposed new route of the coastal highway, from kilometres 16 to 25 and revert to the gazetted alignment. Umahi disclosed this at the 3rd stakeholders meeting of the coastal highway project in lagos. The decision to revert to the old alignment at the Okun Ajah axis, will prevent about 490 houses from being demolished. The house of representatives has passed a bill seeking to reintroduce the old national anthem. The lyrics of old national anthem titled: ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’, were written in 1959 by Lillian Jean Williams, a British expatriate who lived in Nigeria when it achieved independence. The anthem was changed by former head of state, General Olusegun Obasanjo 1978. The decision since then, has sparked a desire for the return of the old anthem amongst a cross section of Nigerians who believe it carries historical, cultural, and prayerful significance that resonates deeply. #nationalanthem #obasanjo #soyinka #sanusi #sanusilamidosanusi #kano #emirofkano #daveumahi #arisetv #arisenews #arise Subscribe to our Channel for high profile interviews.
