BART From MacArthur to Richmond - Full Section Ride (HD)

Experience a scenic and relaxing train tour through Northern California aboard a 9-car Richmond train, as it heads to West Contra Costa County from Oakland at the tail end of the weekday morning commute on BART in the East Bay. This is the first time in the agency's history, since it opened in 1972, that this stretch of the system -- from MacArthur to Richmond -- has ever been shot, at least from a passenger's perspective. MacArthur Station is the final transfer opportunity for anyone looking to switch between Richmond and Pittsburg/Bay Point trains, plus the last Oakland stop for trains traveling to Richmond Station, BART's terminus in West Contra Costa County and geographically the northernmost point in the system. Some of the marquee visual attractions on this ride include a brief view of eastbound traffic on Highway 24, stopping at Downtown Berkeley Station (where many UC Berkeley students go), and crossing county lines upon emerging from BART's Berkeley tunnel. In all, the ride from MacArthur to Richmond -- and vice versa -- takes roughly 20 minutes, and is one of a handful of BART journeys that hugs a Bay Area freeway. Other examples include stretches between Dublin/Pleasanton and Bay Fair, plus Daly City and Colma. After arrival in Richmond, trains go to the maintenance yard up ahead, before re-entering the station a few minutes later on Platform 2 for service to either San Francisco or Fremont.
