Glazing or glazing (from the English glaze - glaze) is a technique for obtaining deep iridescent colors by applying translucent layers of paint on top of each other. Glazing has been used in painting since ancient times, but as an integral tool of fine art, it first appeared in the technique of Renaissance artists. The first glazing layer is applied to the imprimatura after applying a drawing to it, which can be transferred using carbon paper or a projector. In conjunction with glazing, it forms an aerial perspective, in which all the work is subsequently carried out. The glazing layer must be dark and oil-based, because, in addition to participating in the formation of the "atmospheric shell", it creates depth of space and is the foundation for shadows and halftones. The drawing ends up between two layers - imprimatura and glazing, and it is necessary to somehow pull it to the surface so that it borrows the shades of the imprimatura and glazing. This is done with sandpaper, with the help of which the required amount of dye is removed so that the image becomes three-dimensional. Glazing works intensively in the shadows and a little weaker, but still quite actively - in the halftones. In the highlights, the presence of glaze is quite insignificant. However, the spatial depth that was achieved with its help extends to all areas of the composition. The next type of glazing is the application of optical mixtures or colors, as we call them in our practice. At this stage, the task is to make the image colored, and therefore more realistic. Colors are made on the basis of tempera paints. They are translucent, therefore, when combined with red ocher, from which the imprimatura is made, and dark oil glazing, they give an optical effect, as a result of which new shades are born. If after optical mixtures, the work still requires coloristic enhancement (and in most cases it does), we use the so-called dry glazes. At this stage, watercolor is used (acrylic is also possible), which should be applied in as thin layers as possible, since excessive color can ruin the entire work. Therefore, dry glazes are used, when a tiny amount of dye is taken on the brush - just enough to create soft, barely perceptible shades. But this is quite enough to enliven the work, give it freshness and color diversity. Next, we will need another glaze. To restore the bottomless space that makes painting magically attractive, we cover the surface with linseed oil and let it soak in. Before covering with oil, the work should be 98-99% ready. At this stage, we only enhance the color of individual areas - make them brighter and more juicy. That's how wonderful they are - these dry and wet, oil, tempera and watercolor glazes. It is extremely difficult to achieve such an impressive depth of space and such stunningly diverse and naturalistic shades using corpus painting. It is not for nothing that the “old masters” worked in the technique of multi-layered painting, the magnificence of which you will appreciate if you visit a museum. You can look at the paintings of outstanding artists endlessly. They attract you like a magnet and do not let go, make you think, and then again and again study the natural richness of texture and color, the softness of tonal transitions, the meticulous elaboration of details and the divine glow that seeps out through the thinnest layers of glazes. Having mastered the technology of optical clearances, you can create museum-quality works yourself. #painting #glaze #aerialperspective #OgivitelART #TOPmechanism #drawing #paintinglessons #drawinglessons #picture #brushdrawing #image #lightinpainting #paintingtechnique =========== ✨If YOU liked the video ✨Subscribe to the Ogivitel-ART channel ➡️    / @ogivitel-art6168   👍 Don't be shy to like =) ✔ Special thanks for YOUR comments! 📢 Share this video with your friends 😍 ******************************************************** 📢 Add as a friend: Check out Instagram -   / ogivitel_art   Join us on Facebook https://fb.me/Ogivitel Find us on Vkontakte https://vk.com/Ogivitel
