Excavator Rolls Over on Sidewalk, Knocks Down Telephone Pole. Great, yet another heavy excavator with no lift points! At least this one was not down a super steep dirt hill in an impossible to navigate block lol. This unit flipped while being offloaded from a trailer, landing partially on a sidewalk and blocking the street. As soon as I get this call, I immediately took off in Hulk, my 50ton rotator, followed by Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. One advantage of being on level ground vs a slope, is we could get close to this unit and utilize both our deck winches to assist in bringing it over. Coupled with my line on the boom and one on the track, it made for a pretty smooth upright all without any further damage to the cab, panels and hoses on the arm. For a more detailed overview, be sure to stick around for my breakdown at the end! Once upright, we did some quick re-rigging to get this unit in the air so the Landoll could back up underneath it. Luckily the unit started and the mechanic was able to retract the arm. All in all another successful job I would say considering the weight and lack of real lift points.
