The Zollverein Coal Mine in Essen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also known as the "Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr." From 1851 to 1986, the Zollverein Coal Mine was an active coal mine in Essen. Our walk takes us through the coking plant grounds and around the winding tower at the main entrance.
