However, the embryological origin is the same for all humans. The development is complex and involves the formation and coordination of various tissues to form the final product. ▬ 📌 Embryo Face Development 🟢 Early in the 4th week, 5 facial Prominences appear. These are Frontonasal, Paired Maxillary ad the Mandibular Prominences. 🟢 Bilateral oval thickenings appear on the inferolateral aspect of the Frontonasal Prominence known at the Nasal Prominences. 🟢 Maxillary Prominences grow and compress the Medial NP towards the midline to form the upper lip. 🟢 Whereas the Maxillary and the Lateral NP are separated by a Groove, Naso Lacrimal Groove. Watch the Video for the formation of Labiogingival Lamina and the frenulum, and a detailed diagrammatic explanation. ▬ 📌 Development of Secondary Palate 🟡 At around 6Th week 2 projections emerge from the Maxillary prominences, which move along the tongue to merge and form the Secondary Palate. 🟡 Eventually Ossification occurs forming the Hard Palate, but the posterior part does not ossify forming the Soft Palate and Uvula.
